Whether you’re jetting off to a tropical retreat or heading into the mountains for a long weekend of wellness and adventure, packing for a fitness-focused trip can be a bit... tricky. You want to be prepared, but not weighed down. The good news? With a little planning, you can fit everything you need into a carry-on—and still have room for souvenirs.

At Ketanga Fitness Retreats, we’ve hosted thousands of guests across all types of climates and activities, so we’ve seen firsthand what gets used (and what stays at the bottom of the suitcase). Here’s our ultimate guide to packing smart, moving freely, and feeling great while you travel.

Check out our favorite products on Amazon here or read below for suggestions by category.

Workout Gear You'll Actually Wear

Let’s start with the essentials. When it comes to packing fitness apparel, think versatile and quick-drying. You don’t need a separate outfit for every workout—just pack a few trusted staples you can mix and match.

  • Moisture-wicking tops
  • Leggings and shorts
  • Light long-sleeve layer
  • Sports bras
  • Workout socks and seamless undies (bring extra!)
  • Lightweight sneakers that work for a variety of activities

💡 Tip: Choose pieces that can transition from workouts to outings. A sleek black pair of leggings can double as plane wear or dinner attire.

Non-Workout Apparel & Accessories

Working out is only part of the fun! Be sure to pack regular clothes - appropriate for the destination/weather - to wear by day, on excursions and for dinners out!

  • Swimsuits & cover ups
  • Hat & sunglasses
  • Sandals, hiking boots, water shoes (depending on retreat)
  • Casual day clothes
  • Nicer evening attire (nothing too fancy unless we tell you otherwise!)
  • Comfy, lightweight pajamas
  • Socks, underwear, bras

Lightweight Gear for Recovery & Relaxation

After the workouts, the real magic happens in your recovery time. A few small extras can go a long way in helping your body bounce back and your mind stay grounded.

  • Foldable yoga mat and yoga towel that are super easy to pack for your retreat!
  • Mini backpack or perfect fanny pack for excursions
  • is lightweight and perfect for day trips and excursions.
  • Portable, insulated water bottle to stay cold in the tropical heat + bottle cleaning tabs when you don't have access to your kitchen sink!
  • Lacrosse ball or mini massage gun
  • Electrolyte packets or hydration tablets
  • Eye mask or travel pillow for quality rest

Electronics

We live in a world of connectivity - so don't forget your chargers and beyond!

  • Laptop + charger
  • Phone charger
  • Universal travel adapter to stay charged and connected wherever you go.
  • This cable and cord organizer keeps tangles away!
  • Kindle
  • This portable charger / battery pack is thin and easy to throw in your bag.

Toiletries & Health

The OG packing list for any getaway!
