Packing for Malta is easy when you know what to expect. Early September brings warm, sunny days, plenty of time by the Mediterranean, and active adventures mixed with relaxation. Here's a list of our favorite must-haves to make your trip even more comfortable.

We've rounded up these travel essentials—and a few other items we love for our retreats—in our Amazon storefront. They're products we've found genuinely useful while traveling and leading retreats. (We may get a small commission if you click through our links. As a small biz, everything helps. Thanks for your support!)

Happy packing—we can't wait to explore Malta with you!

Travel Essentials

Picture
  • The CORRECT Travel Adapter: Malta uses Type G electrical outlets (the same as the UK, NOT the same as the most of Europe), so don't forget to pack the proper adapter to keep your phone, watch, and other electronics charged. This one also has ports for USB and USB-C so you can charge multiple devices at once.
  • Packing Cubes: Since our retreats include workouts, beach time, dinners, and excursions, packing cubes make it much easier to keep outfits organized throughout the week.
  • Portable Power bank: Don't run out of juice when you need to take a pic or order an Uber!
  • Charging cable organizer: Because who likes spaghetti wires?
  • AirTag or luggage tracker: Better to be safe than sorry
  • Passport holder/travel wallet: Also a great souvenir idea!
  • Luggage scale: Many airlines limit checked-baggage weight so be sure to check your ticket and pack a scale if you're getting close!
  • Wrinkle-release spray: So useful after a long flight!
  • Travel jewelry organizer: Don't let your jewelry get all tied up!

Fitness & Wellness

  • Foldable Travel Yoga Mat: We'll provide the class and amazing instructor, you'll just need a mat (or towel) to lay on! A foldable travel mat is easy to pack and cost-effective (depending on which one you choose: this one is lower cost and this one is a bit higher end) and then you have one on hand for future retreats, classes and travels.
  • Workout clothes that are comfortable, quick dry and lightweight
  • Sneakers for workouts
  • Comfortable walking shoes (avoid heels for uneven streets)
  • Flip-flops or water shoes
  • Supplements: Electrolyte packets, protein powder, and other supplements you like

Sun & Heat

  • Portable Handheld Fan: September is one of Malta's warmest months, with daytime temperatures often in the low to mid-80s°F (around 28–30°C). A handheld rechargeable fan is surprisingly handy while sightseeing or waiting for ferries.
  • Wide-Brimmed Sun Hat: The Maltese sun is strong, especially during boat days and walking tours. A lightweight, packable hat will help keep you cool while protecting your face and shoulders. We love this one that has space for your ponytail / bun and can be easily rolled up and packed without losing shape.
  • Sun protection: Polarized sunglasses, Mineral sunscreen for face, Reef-safe body sunscreen
  • Cooling towel: Just add water!
  • SPF lip balm: game changer
  • After-sun lotion or aloe
  • Beach tote lightweight and foldable is best
  • Reusable water bottle: this one is on sale
  • Waterproof phone pouch for boat day and water fun

Health & Just-in-Case

  • Motion sickness bands or medication (for boat excursion)
  • OTC's: Ibuprofen/Tylenol, Pepto-Bismol tablets, Allergy medicine
  • First aid: Mini first aid kit, bandaids
  • Disinfectant: Hand sanitizer, Disinfecting wipes
  • Bug spray (not always necessary in Malta, but nice for evenings)
  • Hanging toiletry bag: You never know what the counter space situation will be like

Clothing & Toiletries

  • Swim: Swimsuits & cover-up
  • Day: Casual daytime outfits (lightweight fabric)
  • Night: Nicer dinner outfits
  • Layer: Light sweater or denim jacket for breezy evenings
  • PM: Pajamas
  • Undies: Undergarments & socks (extras!)
  • Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes, Flat sandals
  • Fitness: Workout clothes, Sports bras
  • Skincare: Moisturizer, makeup & remover, face wash, and all your fave products
  • Haircare: Shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, brush
  • Shaving: Shaving cream & razor
  • Dental: Toothbrush, toothpaste & floss
  • Laundry: Hamper bag for dirty clothes and mini detergent packets for sink washing
