It’s SO cold. We feel it, we hear it, and for some reason we like to say it to friends and strangers alike (when was the last time you were in an elevator and talked about anything other than the weather?). This offensively bitter weather makes going home and jumping into sweats sound almost as good as being on a beach somewhere tropical. So going to the gym – even for those of us who enjoy working out – becomes easier to blow off.
Having a well-packed gym bag makes it harder to bail on your workout, and makes surviving the cold a little more comfortable. So what goes into the perfect winter gym bag, you may ask? Here are the seven things that I wouldn’t leave home without during the brutal winter months.
Greetings from sunny St. Pete Beach, Florida! We are just wrapping up our "Strengthen in the Sun" retreat, and I wanted to share some of the highlights of the (amazing) trip!
We kicked things off Friday evening with a little meet and greet followed by our first workout: TRX! A monkey drinking a beer was kind enough to share his tree with us while we squatted, knee tucked, and rowed down below. Then we stretched at sunset on the beach just a few steps away.
It was one of the coldest mornings NYC has had all year, but we still had a full house at JackRabbit Sports on the Upper West Side for a Training C.A.M.P. workout with Coach Curtis Williams! He was giving the class a taste of what to expect on his Costa Rica fitness retreat (that happens to be over his birthday weekend)!
There was an amazing turn out at Rosalind's HIIT boot camp class last night at Athleta in the Flatiron district! Ros (co-founder of Ketanga!) took the group through a warm up followed by rounds of HIIT drills, a fun fitness game, and ended with abs and stretching. There were smiles the whole way through, and we can't wait to do it again some time soon!
Beer pong, flip cup, baseball.. Just a few of the games I've played in class at Throwback Fitness, a unique and thriving fitness studio in midtown east.
Their motto is: Old School Fitness. So much fun, you’ll forget you’re working out.
And that’s so true! Their workouts often have a rowing base, but they mix in so many other exercises, not to mention play innovative fitness games, you don’t even think about your legs and arms burning.
