When you think of CrossFit, you probably think of big, bulky men screaming, grunting and lifting barbells and dumbbells. I’m willing to bet that a lanky 21 year old girl with negative muscle mass is the image that comes to mind. But that’s exactly what happened at this Friday’s first. I, Hannah Tess, tried my first CrossFit class at ICE NYC on the Upper East Side… and to much surprise I lived to tell the tale.
As much as I was expecting to push my body and my mind, I wasn't expecting how much I would actually learn about the CrossFit process and the huge lifestyle it has become for so many. If you’d like to hear about my experience and all the blood, sweat, and tears that I shed, keep scrolling. Just kidding, I’m not THAT dramatic. But I’m not kidding about the sweat. Like, at all.
Mother, teacher, entrepreneur, novelist, and most notably yoga instructor – Mindy Levine has done it all. With her focus on yoga, she believes that movement is a doorway into the mind and that the science of yoga dives deep into the innermost parts of our beings.
We had the chance to speak with her about her practice and techniques that she exercises not only in her teachings but in her daily life as well. We couldn’t be happier that Mindy will be co-leading our Refresh & Renew Yoga Retreat this September and we are so excited about the ways in which she’ll incorporate her ideology into our activities.
