Healthy smoothies are a great way to start the morning and a good way for me to get an extra serving of vegetables. I had gotten into a routine of making myself eggs in the morning and then a smoothie/shake to go as I made my commute.
But my old Magic Bullet blender broke, and I was faced with a dilemma: do I just never make smoothies again or do I look for a new blender?
After a few days of looking at the fruits and vegetables sitting alone in my fridge, I landed on the Magic Bullet with fewer blades and cups than the traditional MB set for $40 and it gave me the kick I needed to start my morning routine again.
In this smoothie series, I want to share with you some of my favorite recipes that are easy to make and will give you energy for the whole morning!
My current favorite smoothie recipe: "The Purple Hulk"
Calories: 150-175 (~225 with full scoop of protein)
Note, measurements and calories are approximate, and are based on using a 16-18oz blender cup.
I use half a scoop because Aloha protein is delicious but on the expensive side, and I also already am getting protein with the eggs, but if you are just doing the smoothie I'd recommend the whole serving. Adding protein to your smoothie leaves you feeling fuller, longer.
I don't know what it is about this smoothie, but the combination of this particular kind of vanilla protein with the vanilla almond milk leaves the drink with a rich delicious flavor that keeps me going until lunchtime!
