Boxing & the Beach
There's nothing quite like throwing a solid punch or surfing a perfect wave, and this retreat has both! Our third annual getaway is all about having fun, being active and trying new things, all while being surrounded by amazing people. Together, with Coach Nikki Campbell of New York's Work Train Fight gym, we'll learn proper boxing form, work on strength and conditioning, and take on adventures like kayaking and surfing the waves, while building confidence and having a blast!
Coach Nikki is equal parts amazing teacher, fitness motivator and the life of the party who you want to spend your vacation with! On this retreat, she will lead two workouts per day that are broken down into high-intensity and technique-based formats. The high intensity workouts include shadow boxing, mitt work and heart-pumping body conditioning. Our evening sunset workouts will be more technique based, learning how to apply our new boxing skills in a more realistic capacity along with core and strength work. Each day will be a progression in regards to what is learned, practiced and applied.
There's so much to do in beautiful Costa Rica, and on this retreat, we will be exploring in an adventurous fashion! Two exciting excursions are included (yet totally optional): a surf lesson to learn how to ride the waves like a local and zip lining on an exciting canopy tour through the mountains! And for the truly adventurous, we'll learn to dance salsa and go practice while exploring the local nightlife!
Each day will balance activities with free time to relax, reflect, or go explore on your own or with others. Our resort is right on the beach and also has a couple of pools (with a swim-up bar!) so free time is yours to cherish! Other ideas are to get a massage, sign up for an extra excursion like horseback riding or zip lining or visit the town for some shopping.
"This trip was really the perfect mix of activity and relaxation and I got to meet AMAZING people along the way!" - Emily R.
Meet Coach Nikki Campbell
Nikki Campbell fell in love with boxing the moment she laced up her first pairs of gloves. She spent several years working in various fashion jobs but always kept coming back to boxing. She was approached by the owner of Work Train Fight to teach; so she quit her job on the spot and pursued her passion. After extensive fitness class training she is now teaching classes, clients and a whole new generation of trainers how to lead! Nikki is fueled by being witness to her client’s inner strength becoming visible through boxing. She is also currently fighting in amateur fights in the NYC area! @nikkicampz
Work Train Fight
WTF is all about empowerment through boxing and fitness. There are many fitness modalities out there, however none are able to train the mind, body and character like boxing does. They enforce an A-hole Free policy; keeping a positive environment for everyone is a high priority. If they help enough kind hearted people be stronger, then they will one day reach their goal, to change .0001% of the world (they are modest). @worktrainfight
"I signed up for the trip because I wanted to do something different, get out of my comfort zone and do something for myself. This trip was really the perfect mix of activity and relaxation and I got to meet AMAZING people along the way!" - Emily R.
"I think I always had the intention of working out on a trip but it never really works out that way because you get too busy drinking, having fun, staying in the sun. But having this group mentality of waking up every day and doing workouts together was a really great experience." - Danwen C.
"The Boxing Fitness Retreat was great. I got to experience using my boxing "skills" in a whole new environment, and I was able to take my workouts to another level which was awesome. We had a diverse group of people so it definitely made the trip interesting. How can you go wrong with boxing and salsa!!! 2 of my favorites things to do!! I thoroughly enjoyed my time!" - Sam R.
"Really great weekend! Working out in a different setting/context is cool, and it's nice to be out of the gym once in a while. Bonus points if you can learn about a different culture at the same time! There's also something really nice about having an oceanfront/rooftop view while your coach is shouting. Sure beats a brick wall or the belt shop across the street!" - Jason W.
