Girls' Fitness & Adventure Trip

The Girls' Fitness & Adventure Trip is an opportunity to connect with likeminded ladies and take some special time out of busy life for yourself. On this five-day getaway, you'll work out in a supportive environment, try exciting local activities and enjoy the serenity of the luxurious beachfront resort. Join us on this active vacation for the mind, body and soul in stunning Costa Rica!

Fitness
Two daily fitness classes will pull from a variety of disciplines including high intensity fitness like HIIT, tabata, and dance fitness in the mornings and then more restorative workouts like yoga and barre-influenced fitness in the evenings. All movements have modifications for varying fitness levels.

Adventure:
There are so many incredible things to see and do in Costa Rica, and on our retreat, we will have two excursions included to enjoy the country by land and by sea. On our first day together, we'll visit Rincon de la Vieja for the ultimate adventure tour combining horseback riding, zip lining, hot springs, and more! On our final day together, we'll celebrate with a memorable catamaran sail along the ocean with snorkeling, open bar and possible whale sightings!

Relaxation:
Taking time to relax and recharge is a top priority on this retreat. In between workouts and activities (which are all totally optional!), you'll have plenty of time to lay on the beach, go tanning by the pool or take advantage of the complimentary bikes and kayaks at the resort. Also, SUP rentals and pampering spa services are available for an additional fee.

  • $2195 per person in a double room (shared king bed or king + rollaway bed)
  • $2965 for a single room

  • Airfare to/from Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) not included.
  • Travel insurance recommended.
  • Guests interested in sharing a room with another solo traveler will be paired with a roommate first come, first served.

The Accommodations

Our luxurious boutique resort aka home for the retreat is El Mangroove on the Gulft of Papagayo, just 20 minutes from the Liberia (LIR) airport. With a focus on authentic Costa Rican culture, farm and sea-to-table cuisine, and healthy and active experiences, El Mangroove aligns with Ketanga's values, and we are excited to bring you there! The resort also features a relaxing fully-functioning spa, two restaurants, a swimming pool, and private access to the beach.

Guests will have the choice of a Bark Suite, a 485-square foot room complete with a king bed and private living room area featuring a relaxing hammock next to a window that makes you feel like you're floating in nature, or a Nesto Suite with the same size and amenities, featuring two queen beds, pending availability. All rooms are complete with WiFi connectivity, air conditioning, a fan, a walk-in closet, workspace, 42" plasma TV, safe deposit box, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and mini bar.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Saturday, February 8
Welcome to Costa Rica! Guests will arrive at the Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) airport and take a provided shuttle to the resort to check in and get settled. We'll come together before sunset for introductions and our first class to move our bodies after a day of travel. In the evening, we'll have a group dinner at the hotel and continue to get to know one another.

Day 2 - Sunday, February 9
Wake up to sunshine in paradise! We'll have an early morning breakfast, and then we'll be picked up for a day of adventure at Rincon de la Vieja! Our day will include zip lining, horseback riding, a massive water slide, hot springs, and lunch! After the excursion, we'll have go back to the hotel to enjoy free time in the afternoon and then we'll come together for a workout and free night!

Day 3 - Monday, February 10
Today is all about relaxation! We'll have a morning workout followed by breakfast at the resort, and then we'll have a free day to relax at the beach or pool, treat yourself to a spa treatment, or sign up for an extra excursion like surfing or paddle boarding! In the evening, we'll meet once again for a fitness class and then have a free night.

Day 4 - Tuesday, February 11
A day of fun in the sun! This morning we'll start with a high-intensity workout and then enjoy breakfast and a few hours to relax at the resort. Then we'll be picked up for our afternoon on a catamaran, complete with lunch, drinks, snorkeling, and ultimate relaxation! Upon our return, we'll come together for our final group dinner.

Day 5 - Wednesday, February 12
Goodbyes are bittersweet! We'll kick off our final morning with a workout and breakfast, and then we'll soak up our last rays of sunshine, and depart for the airport feeling refreshed and stronger than ever!

Meet Your Coaches

Layne Bruner is a group fitness instructor and wellness advocate living in Austin, TX. She identifies herself as an endless joy seeker, a fitness motivator, and she is always looking for self-improvement and a better way to live this life. Witnessing life change in men and women is her soul’s fuel and Layne is led by her Faith and connecting like-minded people together through transparent and real relationships. Layne has a vast background in fitness and dance and has studied ballet, tap, modern dance and jazz at studios in California, Florida, Virginia, West Virginia, Dallas and Austin, Texas.

From teaching in studios, gyms, the beach and anywhere people want to dance and move, Layne passionately shares her love of movement.

Aurora Jones is a life-long sports and wellness enthusiast. She began teaching group exercise 20 years ago while attending Colorado State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology.

Aurora is extensively trained in Anatomy, Kinesiology and specialized in Wellness Program Management. Aurora owns a barre3 studio in Austin Texas and fell in love with the practice because of its approach to whole body health and the way it transformed her body after having three children. 

An avid runner, Aurora also loves Pilates and has a personal yearning for knowledge in nutrition and fuel for the human body. Aurora is incredibly passionate about motivating others to become the strongest, healthiest version of themselves.
