Spring Equinox Yoga & Fitness Retreat
Enjoy the sun, sand, fitness, and fun on this 6-day wellness-minded getaway! Conveniently timed around the spring equinox, which represents an annual time for growth and renewal, we'll work out our bodies and minds while focusing on specific intentions we set on day one. Throughout the week we will check in on those intentions in yoga, workouts, meditations, and exciting activities like zip lining and surfing. Join Coaches Beth and Sallie and a group of like-minded travelers for the right balance of fitness, adventure and relaxation!
Each day of the retreat will combine total-body workouts and yoga classes led by our two instructors, Beth Roberts and Sallie Schullinger-Krause. Typically our morning workout will be more intensive (interval training, cardio, power yoga) and our afternoon session will be lower impact (stretching, core, restorative flows). The daily classes are meant to challenge and motivate you, while being accessible to all fitness levels and utilizing the natural environment as the gym!
In addition to our daily workouts and yoga classes, we'll enjoy a variety of exciting activities! We'll explore Costa Rica from the treetops on an adrenaline-filled zip lining canopy tour on one day, and then we'll have an all-levels surf lesson on another day. Towards the end of the trip, we'll go on an afternoon/sunset catamaran sailing cruise where we have the choice of relaxing on board with open bar or snorkeling in the ocean and watching for whales and dolphins. Prefer to stay back? No problem - all activities are optional!
In between activities and workouts will be plenty of free time to relax, reflect, or sign up for additional activities, massages or excursions. Our resort is right on the beach and has beautiful pools so free time is yours to cherish! And when you walk out of the hotel you're in the middle of a small town with lots of shops and restaurants to explore.
Beth Roberts is a fitness trainer and nutrition/lifestyle coach with over 20 years of experience. Beth has taught many styles of fitness and levels of clients over her career as a private coach and group exercise instructor.
Her passion for Boot Camp style interval training drove her to establish Killington Boot Camp where she keeps fitness fun with a variety of indoor and outdoor workouts.
Sallie Schullinger-Krause is a certified Bikram teacher who completed her training in Los Angeles in 1999. Since then she has taught for studios in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. She has studied classical Ashtanga, yin yoga and yoga therapy, and leads clinics and workshops in meditation, pranayama, and asana development. She teaches to “the bodies in the room” and her classes are a mix of tough love, fierce compassion, and attention to individual physical alignment.
Sallie currently lives in Vermont where she teaches at BYUV in White River Junction. She loves to read, cook, travel, spend time outdoors climbing, kayaking and hiking, and has recently made a foray into the world of watercolors. She shares her life with her husband Dave, and their three cats, Delilah, Percy and Tycho.
Tuesday, March 17:
Welcome to Costa Rica! Guests will arrive at the Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) airport and take a provided shuttle to our resort, the Tamarindo Diria. We'll check in and then meet for introductions and a welcome stretch at sunset. Tonight's included dinner will be at a delicious restaurant in town!
Wednesday, March 18:
This morning we will kick things off with a beach boot camp followed by a nourishing breakfast overlooking the ocean waves. Then we'll depart for a zip lining adventure through tree canopies (GoPros welcome!). Upon our return, we'll have a restorative yoga class and then enjoy a free afternoon and evening to relax and enjoy.
Thursday, March 19:
Morning yoga flow + breakfast. Then enjoy a free day to explore the surrounding town of Tamarindo, go on an adventure to another beach, or sign up for an additional activity like horseback riding. In the afternoon around 3:30, we'll come together for a core and myofascial release class and then will have time to relax a bit before sunset. Tonight is yours to try another delicious local restaurant or check out the excitement at the Thursday Night Market.
Friday, March 20:
High-intensity morning workout + breakfast. Then we'll have some free time before heading down the beach for a surf lesson! All levels are welcome and encouraged to join the fun and ride the waves! The afternoon is free until we come together at 3:30 for a combo of yin and hip opening for the spring equinox in addition to a special spring equinox activity with journaling and meditation. The evening is free with an option to go salsa dancing!
Saturday, March 21:
The two Coaches will team teach a boot camp and flow combo class in the morning followed by breakfast. Then we'll have a few hours to relax or visit the local farmer's market and then head down the beach to meet our catamaran for an afternoon sail! We'll ride out into the ocean, hopefully catching a glimpse of some whales or dolphins, and then we'll have time to jump in the water for snorkeling and swimming. We'll have lunch provided on the boat as well as open bar, and we will come back as the sun sets for a perfect view of the magic! Dinner will be included at a delicious restaurant.
Sunday, March 22:
On our final morning, we'll enjoy a 7AM moving meditation (beach walk) followed by a stretch on the beach and a final intention setting for the new cycle of growth brought by the spring equinox! We'll enjoy our final breakfast overlooking the ocean, walk the beach one more time and say goodbyes as we depart for the airport.
