Summer Peak Adventure Trip
Join Ketanga's inaugural trip to Vermont for a weekend of hiking, music, fitness, and FUN! This adventure-packed weekend has been designed to include two very special local events: the 4th annual Race to the Peak (a 5K hike or run to the top of Killington Mountain) and the launch of the 2018 Cooler in the Mountains outdoor concert series! Plus, we will explore the mountain town with stand-up paddle boarding, boot camp, yoga, food, local beer, and more! Led by Ketanga's founder, Stacy Schwartz, this trip will be the peak of your summer adventures!
On this weekend getaway, we will work out like locals with local studios and instructors! We've got a stand-up paddleboard yoga class and a boot camp class on the agenda, and the athletic highlight of our trip is the 5K Race to the Peak, a challenging uphill run or hike (80% of people hike!) to the top of Killington Mountain!
The Race to the Peak is certainly an adventure, but we will also be hiking (down the same mountain) to get a sense of the trail and scenery without getting too sore. And during some free time after the race, we will have the option to visit the Snowshed Adventure Center where we can zip line, rent kayaks, go down the Beast Mountain Coaster, or just enjoy a mountaintop cocktail!
We want to make sure this weekend has a good balance of time to chill, so we are excited to take part in the first outdoor concert of the Killington summer series! We will stake out an area to listen to music and hang out with lawn games and snacks. And if all of this activity revs up your appetite, know that we will be visiting some of the best local restaurants to fuel us throughout the retreat (plus, did you know Vermont has amazing craft beer?!).
Friday, July 13:
Arrive in Killington around noon for a welcome lunch and group introductions. We'll check into the hotel and then meet up with Beth from Killington Boot Camp for a tram ride to the top of Killington Mountain and a guided hike back down, with a special focus on strategy for the race/hike tomorrow. Afterwards, we will have a restorative stand-up paddle board yoga class to stretch out. In the evening, we'll visit a local restaurant for a group dinner and head back to the hotel for games or a good night's sleep.
Saturday, July 14:
Race day! We'll have a quick bite at the hotel and head over to the mountain to take part in the 4th annual 5K Race to the Peak! You're welcome to hike to the top or attempt it at a run, and the group will meet up at the top for medals and celebrations. We'll hang out to enjoy some race festivities, and then have the option to visit the Snowshed Adventure Center for activities like zip lining, a mountain coaster or kayaking.
In the later afternoon, we'll go to the launch of the 2018 Cooler in the Mountains concert series where we'll enjoy local bands, lawn games and refreshments. Tonight we'll have another group dinner and taste some craft beer!
Sunday, July 15:
This morning after a light breakfast at the hotel, we'll visit Killington Boot Camp for an invigorating workout. We'll shower, pack up, and depart with the option to stop at a local brewery for some craft specialties before heading home!
