Its time to renew your life! From April 27th to May 1st, celebrity fitness trainer & wellness coach Chris Sainsbury will be hosting his second fitness retreat in the surf community of Tamarindo, Costa Rica. His goal is to help improve your quality life through fitness (and fun)!

In order for real change to last, you need to be aware of the behaviors, habits, and thoughts that have not worked for you in the past, so you can adopt new ways of thinking that will improve your life for the long term. So let's move our bodies in a stress-free environment and discover that being healthy starts from the inside. 

The fitness:
Throughout the trip, you will experience morning and sunset workouts overlooking the Pacific Ocean ranging from body weight CrossFit, tabata drills, and HIIT, to running and kick boxing. Chris will deliver dynamic high intensity experiences that are challenging and proven to burn calories, speed up your metabolism, and launch your energy.

The retreat:
The combination of workouts, adventures, and relaxation on this retreat will leave you feeling fit and motivated for the demands of your life back home. When we're not working out, we'll be exploring local activities like a sunset cruise and a surf lesson, and we'll enjoy Costa Rican cuisine at local restaurants.

Meet Coach Chris Sainsbury

With more than a decade of experience as a personal fitness trainer, Chris Sainsbury has established himself as the trainer of choice among some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.

In addition to celebrity clients that include Marc Jacobs, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Puff Daddy, Idris Elba, Nas, and Kelis, Sainsbury has also trained at some of the most exclusive franchise gyms in New York City and Los Angeles including David Barton, Equinox, Crunch, and Work Train Fight. 

Chris’s first on-screen experience was in 2003 when Puff Daddy cast him as fitness trainer to members of the rapper’s reality show, ‘Making Da Band’. Soon thereafter Chris was one of Puff Daddy’s trainers as he prepared for ‘Diddy Runs the City’, a nationally televised campaign through which Combs raised two million dollars for charity while training for the NYC Marathon. 

Chris embodies and promotes a wholesome approach to fitness. He is a marathon runner, a Spartan Race “Trifecta” finisher, and he participated in the 10th annual AIDS/LifeCycle “Ride to End AIDS”, a grueling 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Sainsbury believes in finding lasting motivation and empowering people to not just strive for temporary physical goals, but instead to adopt sustainable new lifestyles that combine health and fitness with general wellbeing. You can find Chris on his website, Facebook, or Instagram.

The Accommodations

​One of Ketanga's favorite places for a fitness getaway, Tamarindo is a unique town in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica known for surfing and low key beach vibes. We will be staying at the beautifully-landscaped Tamarindo Diria, the 4-star beachfront resort with three pools (two with swim-up bars), a fitness center, massage services, and a small casino. Plus, being right on the beach means you'll waste no time between a fresh and delicious breakfast and soaking up the morning sunshine. While the property is relaxing and peaceful, the surrounding town is full of casual restaurants, bars, and shops making for a perfect balance and something for everyone!

Sample itinerary

Thursday 4/27: 
  • Arrive at Liberia (LIR) airport and take provided shuttle to the resort (about an hour ride)
  • Get settled in your room and meet the group
  • Welcome workout at sunset
  • Shower up and enjoy a delicious group dinner in town

Friday 4/28: 
  • Morning workout
  • Group breakfast at hotel 
  • Free time on the beach
  • Sailing trip to Playa Huevo for snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing on the beach, complete with gourmet snacks and open bar
  • Optional evening activity such as drinks at a local bar

Saturday 4/29: 
  • Morning workout
  • Group breakfast at hotel 
  • Free day to explore Tamarindo or relax on the beach
  • Sunset workout
  • Dinner in town

Sunday 4/30: 
  • Early morning workout & light breakfast at the hotel
  • Surf lesson down the beach
  • Free time all day! Shop, explore the town, optional excursions, and relax!
  • Evening workout
  • Farewell group dinner

Monday 5/1: 
  • Morning workout
  • Breakfast & prepare for departure
  • Goodbyes and shuttle to the airport
