Join Coach + Chef Alyssa Gagarin for an unique wellness retreat focused on our three favorite F words: fitness, food, and fun! We'll get to know the cultural, culinary and adventurous sides of Costa Rica, while also getting well-acquainted with the beaches, pools and nightlife. This 2nd annual trip is all about balance and enjoying yourself!

Fitness:
Each morning Alyssa will lead a bodyweight HIIT workout (high-intensity interval training) to get us moving and sweaty! The classes will be a combination of strength training and cardio intervals that you can take at your own pace. On select days, we will have a second class which will be more restorative or focused, such as a core class.

Adventure:
We will go on a culinary adventure together, learning about Costa Rican cuisine as well as easy and healthy tips for enhancing your kitchen skills back home! Some highlights to look forward to are a cooking class to learn how to make amazing and healthy tacos yourself, a visit to the town's farmer's market, and a special workshop to taste unique local fruits that you can't get back home!

Outside of the kitchen, we will explore a different kind of adventure: a catamaran sailing tour! We'll depart in the late afternoon and enjoy snorkeling, whale and dolphin watching, and a home-cooked lunch. Plus, did we mention there is open bar? As the day comes to an end, we'll have an unobstructed view of sunset before returning to shore.

Relaxation:
Each day will balance activities with free time to relax, reflect, or go explore on your own or with others. Our resort is right on the beach and also has a couple of pools (with a swim-up bar!) so free time is yours to cherish! Other ideas are to get a massage, sign up for an extra excursion like surfing or visit the town for some shopping.

Meet Coach Alyssa Gagarin

Alyssa, a private chef, certified personal trainer, & fitness instructor in NYC, is passionate about spreading the empowering feeling of living an active, healthy lifestyle!

In the kitchen, she creates light, fresh & healthy cuisine for her clients and is an advocate for consuming real, whole, unprocessed foods. She is the founder and owner of Meal Prep Chef, an in home, weekly, personal chef service that helps busy families and individuals stay stocked with healthy meals! She is certified in nutrition through Keri Glassman's The Nutritious Life Studio.

In the gym, she works one on one with clients, specializing in strength training and mobility, helping people to move better and get stronger. Her enthusiasm and motivation is evident during her group fitness classes at City Row, using the very effective and safe indoor water rower for an endurance cardio workout. 

Alyssa has combined her many interests to create her own healthy cooking show! Her cooking show on Youtube is her ultimate passion project, as she shows people how living a healthy life can be simple and fulfilling. In her free time, she loved to travel, eat, stay active, and since her last retreat with Ketanga, has fallen in love with surfing!

The Accommodations

Our home for the retreat is the iconic Tamarindo Diria resort, located in the heart of Tamarindo, a coastal town known for surfing, sunsets, and low-key beach vibes. The stunning property has a boutique-y vibe with lush grounds, 4-star accommodations, and a friendly, welcoming staff. There are three pools, including two with swim-up bars, a tennis court, and massage services. Plus, being right on the beach means you'll waste no time between a fresh and delicious breakfast and soaking up the morning sunshine. The best part? While the property is relaxing and peaceful, you are steps away from a safe local town with plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to explore - the perfect vacation balance with something for everyone!

Itinerary

Thursday, February 14:
Welcome to Costa Rica! Guests will arrive at the Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) airport and take a provided shuttle to our resort, the Tamarindo Diria. We'll check in and then meet for introductions and a specialty welcome cocktail at sunset. Tonight's included dinner will be at a beach restaurant in town!

Friday, February 15:
This morning we will kick things off with a morning HIIT class and a delicious breakfast overlooking the beach. After some free time to check out the beach and pools, we'll meet for a taco class where Alyssa will guide us through making a variety of healthy - and delicious - tacos! And yes, taco lunch is definitely included! The rest of the afternoon is free until we come together at sunset for an optional salsa dancing lesson to prep us for a free night out on the town (which may include some salsa...!).

Saturday, February 16:
Morning workout + breakfast. After breakfast we'll walk through town to visit the local farmer's market where we'll have free time to explore the booths, taste unique foods and check out local specialties! Then the day is FREE for you to explore the surrounding town of Tamarindo, go on an adventure to another beach, or sign up for an additional activity like a massage, horseback riding or surfing. In the late afternoon, we'll come together for an exotic fruit happy hour guided by a local chef, and then a second free night to explore the town and try a different restaurant for dinner.

Sunday, February 17:
Morning workout + breakfast. We'll have some free time to relax in the morning and then we'll walk down the beach to meet our catamaran for the afternoon! We'll hop on board for home-cooked lunch, open bar and hopefully some dolphin and whale watching! When we're out in the ocean, we'll have time to jump in the water for snorkeling and swimming, and then we'll head back to shore with a stop at sea to watch the sun go down with a clear view! In the evening, we'll have a final group dinner at a delicious local restaurant.

Monday, February 18:
This morning we will enjoy our final boot camp on the beach followed by breakfast (missing the gallo pinto already!). Then we'll soak up the last bit of sunshine and depart for the airport and say our farewells - 'til next time!
