This women-only retreat to Guatemala is led by the knowledgeable and personable Coach Tara LaFerrara! Her vibe and coaching style is all about bringing movement, mindfulness, and a sense of adventure to your daily lives. Join Tara and a group of like-minded women in beautiful Guatemala where we can find inner peace, beauty, and love of movement through a community of empowerment!

Full of interesting history, thriving culture and beautiful natural wonders, Guatemala is a truly unique country, and a destination we are thrilled to visit. Our stay will be based at Lake Atitlan, with a serene and inspiring backdrop - the ideal setting for rejuvenation and outdoor workouts! The combination of fresh mountain air and the lake's calm waters creates a unique environment that promotes both physical and mental wellness.

Fitness:
With Tara’s extensive movement background, she’ll be able to get you from a Sun A to a plyo squat jump. She will make sure that all levels feel comfortable in their space with yoga, meditation, and mindful bodyweight movements. On one day, we will be visiting a local gym where Tara will lead a special all-levels workshop on weightlifting.

Adventure:
There are so many wonderful and exciting things to do on this retreat, and we have planned a balance of activities and free time for you. On one day, we'll experience a combo hike and kayak tour to get to know the area by land and water! Another day will be a full cultural immersion where we'll visit a nearby village and learn about women and their unique crafts in line with Mayan tradition.

Relaxation:
There will be free time built into the itinerary each day, and one full day to do as you please! Some ideas are to relax at the hotel, visit the nearby nature reserve for hiking and zip lining or explore local towns.

  • Secure your spot with a nonrefundable $500 deposit.
  • The balance is due at least 90 days prior to the retreat. If you sign up within 90 days of the retreat, you must pay in full.
  • By signing up, you agree to our Terms & Conditions. 
  • Solo traveler looking to share a room? Ketanga will help connect solo travelers first-come, first-served. If no roommate is available, guest must pay single room rate.
  • Airfare to/from Guatemala City (GUA) not included.

Meet Coach Tara LaFerrara

Tara Laferrara is inspired by movement and fun. With her innovative workouts and drive to create working out more fun for others, she brings her personality to her passion of fitness. She started her journey to group and personal fitness training as a track athlete in high school into the collegiate level. 

​Since then, she has acquired certifications with the National Academy of Sports Medicine including CPT and CES plus a 200 hour yoga teacher training, kettlebell, mobility, and olympic weightlifting level 1 certifications. Tara trains women all over the world through her program TL Method and you can find her on social media as @taralaferrara where she educates, motivates and empowers her followers daily to get up and get moving!

The Accommodations

Hotel Atitlán Hotel & Gardens is located on the shores of Lake Atitlán in Guatemala. The hotel is one kilometre from the quaint Panajachel town centre, one hour from the world-famous Chichicastenango Market and three hours from Guatemala City.

​Overlooking Lake Atitlán and the volcanoes through large bay windows with spectacular views at sunset, the Hotel Atitlán Restaurant and Volcanoes Bar offer casual yet sophisticated settings for enjoying cocktails and the world-class cuisine of our hotel chef. Stunning gardens surround Atitlán Hotel from the terraces to the Lake. Enjoy a relaxing stroll amidst exotic plants and flowers from both Guatemala and around the world – including roses, orchids, bougainvillea and azaleas.

Itinerary Overview

Tuesday, May 7:
Welcome to Guatemala! Guests will arrive at the Guatemala City airport (GUA) and take a provided shuttle to our resort. We'll check in and then meet for introductions and a welcome yoga flow at sunset. We'll continue getting to know one another with a group dinner.

Wednesday, May 8: 
This morning we will kick off our morning fitness routine with a meditation and movement session followed by breakfast. Then we'll go on a private adventure to get to know our surroundings by land and sea! Our tour will start with a kayak tour along the crystal clear water, and then transition into the land portion of the adventure: a hike along ancient paths that have been used by Mayans for centuries! This remote section of Lake Atitlan has barely been touched by the outside world. After the tour, return to the hotel for a wellness workshop / second class, a bit more restorative after the busy day, and a free night.

Thursday, May 9: 
An invigorating movement session and mindful meditation will kick off the day. Then as a group, we'll visit a gym in a nearby village for a weightlifting workshop with Tara! She will walk the group through specific movements and help each person whether an experienced weightlifter or a complete newbie! The rest of the day is free! Hang out at the hotel, or perhaps walk over to the nearby nature reserve for a hike or zip lining! Group dinner.

Friday, May 10: 
​A morning movement session and nourishing breakfast will prep our bodies for the day ahead. Today's very special cultural experience will take us to a nearby village where we'll have a chance to spend time with local women who will teach us about their crafts! Afterwards, return to the hotel for our evening class and a free night.

Saturday, May 11: 
Our final full day is all about you! After our morning workout and breakfast, you can choose your own adventure whether that's going on a tour of the local villages (highly recommended), taking a Mayan cooking class, exploring art galleries, trying another hike, or simply relaxing at the hotel. Whether you hang out with the group or spend time solo, this is your time to fill your own cup! We'll come together for a sunset workout and final group dinner.

Sunday, May 12: 
​On our last morning of the retreat, we will have a final group meditation and some closing words. Then we'll check out and depart for the airport. Til next time!
