Iceland Adventure Retreat

Imagine watching ancient geysers erupt before your eyes, hiking across icy glaciers, walking beneath a massive waterfall, bathing in natural geothermal pools, and trekking across lava fields on horseback… our much anticipated 'eternal summer' Iceland Adventure Retreat to Iceland will bring all of this to life - and more!

With summer in Iceland averaging 21 daylight hours each day, we will have all the time in the world to experience some of the nation’s most precious natural wonders and unique adventures. Our active vacation will also balance free time to soak up the beauty and get to know other guests in a social and fun environment. Join us!

Fitness
In this special adventure-focused Ketanga retreat, most of our workouts will be in the form of activities like hiking and climbing. We will also incorporate a couple of more formal fitness classes for anyone who wants to participate (ranging from yoga/stretch to interval training). Exact fitness details are TBD.

Adventure
This trip is full of adventures ranging from visiting some of the country’s most popular highlights to unique, lesser known experiences. We have a day planned to explore the Golden Circle, home of Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir geyser and Gullfoss waterfall. We will also go hiking on a glacier, try out ice climbing, and ride Icelandic horses across lava fields.

Relaxation
There’s nothing more relaxing than looking at natural beauty and unique landscapes. Throughout our stops on the retreat, we will take a moment here and there for (optional) meditation, journaling and photography. We also have incorporated free time in the schedule to try out some local restaurants and explore the capital city of Reykjavik.

Retreat Itinerary

Thursday, August 8:
Arrive in Killington around noon for a welcome lunch and group introductions. We'll check into the hotel and then ____. Evening outdoor boot camp class with Coach Beth

Friday, August 9:
This morning we'll wake up with an invigorating yoga class, breathing in the fresh mountain air. Then we'll meet up with Beth from Killington Boot Camp for a tram ride to the top of Killington Mountain and a guided hike back down, with a special focus on strategy for the race/hike tomorrow. We'll stop for a picnic lunch and then enjoy some relaxing kayaking and paddle boarding. In the evening, we'll have dinner and then enjoy wine and s'mores around a campfire.

Saturday, August 10:

Race day! We'll have a quick bite at the hotel and head over to the mountain to take part in the 6th annual 5K Race to the Peak! You're welcome to hike to the top or attempt it at a run, and the group will meet up at the top for medals and entertainment. ____ In the late afternoon, we'll have a restorative yoga class to stretch out after the race, and then we'll have a BBQ party with games, local beer and good company!

Sunday, August 11:
This morning after a light breakfast at the hotel, we'll visit Killington Boot Camp for an invigorating workout. We'll shower, pack up, and depart with the option to stop at a local brewery for some craft specialties before heading home!


The Accommodations

Highline Lodge was Killington’s very first ski lodge built in 1959 by the Hubbard Family. The family owned and operated lodge served local and transient skiers during a pinnacle decade of transformation for what was then a frontier town. Fast forward to the present, the Lodge is home to a variety of guest rooms and amenities for winter and summer guests. From a game room to flower garden to a heated swim spa, there is much to see and do right on the property.
