Power & Empower Retreat

Reset, recharge, bond with like-minded women, and come back home stronger than ever! This retreat isn’t just about working out; it’s about making friends, letting go and trying new things. Together with Coach Jess Glazer, we will create healthy habits while working towards self-love, practicing gratitude and finding joy in the simple things… nature, freedom, and girl time! There will be two workouts each day (for all levels), excursions and local activities, as well as group dinners, and tons of free time. Our mission is that you leave a stronger version of yourself; mentally, physically, and emotionally with a whole new tribe of girls to lean on. 

Fitness:
Each day, we will have two workouts led by Jess. One will be focused on slower movements, including yoga, meditation, and stretching, while the other workout will be a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workout focusing on total body movements as well as partner drills and team challenges.

Adventure:
Each day of the retreat will present an opportunity for adventure ranging from trying a new food to going on an excursion with the group. Two activities that are part of the experience (but totally optional) are a surfing lesson for all levels and a sunset sailing cruise on an open-bar catamaran (with homemade lunch, snorkeling and whale watching!).

Relaxation:
In between activities and workouts will be plenty of free time to relax, reflect, or go explore on your own or with others. Our resort is right on the beach and has beautiful pools so free time is yours to cherish! Other ideas are to get a massage, sign up for an extra excursion like horseback riding on the beach, or explore the surrounding town.

Meet Coach Jess Glazer

Jess Glazer is a Manhattan-based personal trainer, group fitness instructor, gymnast, fitness competitor, eating disorder survivor, self-love junkie, motivator, plant-based chef, and founder of “FITtrips”.

Originally from New Jersey, Jess grew as a competitive gymnast and has over a decade of experience dealing with injury prevention, rehabilitation, body image barriers, and goal setting. She studied Physical Therapy at The University of Rhode Island and graduated with B.S. in Kinesiology. Jess has worked as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and gymnastics coach since 2002. She spent the last eight years working as an elementary physical education/health teacher where she continued to share her passion for health and fitness. Her signature teaching style was incorporating daily mindset practices and positive self-talk with all of her students. Jess is a firm believer that happiness, transformations, and success all starts in the mind!

Jess is dedicated to helping inspire, motivate, and educate others on the importance of loving your body, moving your body, and building your best self through living a healthy lifestyle. Her number one reminder to clients is that fitness isn’t about being better than anyone else. We should not compare ourselves to anyone else, but rather focus on being better than we used to be. The Accommodations

Our home for the retreat is the iconic Tamarindo Diria resort, located in the heart of Tamarindo, a coastal town known for surfing, sunsets, and low-key beach vibes. The stunning property has a boutique-y vibe with lush grounds, 4-star accommodations, and a friendly, welcoming staff. There are three pools, including two with swim-up bars, a tennis court, and massage services. Plus, being right on the beach means you'll waste no time between a fresh and delicious breakfast and soaking up the morning sunshine. The best part? While the property is relaxing and peaceful, you are steps away from a safe local town with plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to explore - the perfect vacation balance with something for everyone!

Itinerary

Thursday, January 24:
Welcome to Costa Rica! Guests will arrive at the Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) airport and take a provided shuttle to our resort, the Tamarindo Diria. We'll check in and then meet for introductions and a welcome workout at sunset. Tonight's included dinner will be at a beach restaurant in town!

Friday, January 25:
This morning we will kick off a morning workout routine with a HIIT class followed by a nourishing breakfast overlooking the ocean waves. After some time to change or walk the beach, we'll walk down the beach for our surf lesson! This all-levels class will be led by professionals who know the area and its waves and are experts in helping you get up on the board! You'll have time to practice on your own and when you finish up, you have a free afternoon to relax on the beach or by the pools. In the late afternoon, we'll meet for a second - more restorative - class and then enjoy a free night with optional salsa dancing!

Saturday, January 26:
Morning workout + breakfast. Today is a FREE day to explore the surrounding town of Tamarindo and its weekly Saturday farmer's market, go on an adventure to another beach, or sign up for an additional activity like a massage, horseback riding or zip lining. In the afternoon, we'll come together for a second workout overlooking sunset and our final free night to check out another local restaurant.

Sunday, January 27:
Morning workout + breakfast. We've got a few hours to relax (massage probably sounds good right about now!) and then we'll head down the beach to meet our catamaran for an afternoon sail! We'll ride out into the ocean, hopefully catching a glimpse of some whales or dolphins, and then we'll have time to jump in the water for snorkeling and swimming. We'll have lunch provided on the boat + open bar, and we will come back as the sun sets for a perfect view of the magic! No workout tonight, and dinner will be included at a favorite local restaurant!

Monday, January 28:
Morning HIIT class + breakfast. This morning we will have time for a final dip in the ocean, walk along the beach or stroll through town. Then we'll depart for the airport and say our farewells.
