Power & Pause in Costa Rica

Join Ketanga guest-turned-Coach Amy Hilgenberg on the ultimate fitness and adventure getaway in Costa Rica! Amy will guide the group through daily strength-focused workouts designed to energize and ignite, as well as afternoon yoga classes to help you unwind for the evening. Each day will offer a variety of activities with free time to relax, explore, or experience Tamarindo by yourself or with others.

Fitness:
​
We’ll start each day with an energetic group training session, which will include a variety of workouts ranging from HIIT to traditional strength-focused movements.  The workouts are appropriate for all fitness levels and are designed to help you step into your POWER and set the intention for the day ahead.

After spending the day exploring and adventuring, you’ll have the opportunity to PAUSE as Coach Amy guides you through a gentle afternoon group yoga class.  Each session will combine elements of mindful movement, meditation, and breathwork, and is designed to invite stillness in both the body and the mind.  All fitness levels are welcomed.

Adventure:
As a group, we will zip line through the lush Costa Rican forest, as well as enjoy a day of snorkeling, swimming, and watching the sunset on a Catamaran in the ocean. These activities are included but totally optional!

Relaxation:
During your free time, you can relax by the pool or beach, get a message, sign up for an extra excursion like horseback riding or surf lessons, or visit the town for some shopping.

  • The balance must be paid at least 90 days prior to the start of the retreat. If you sign up within 90 days of the retreat, you must pay in full at registration.

Meet Coach Amy Hilgenberg

Coach Amy began her fitness journey at the age of 23, after a childhood of obesity and eating her insecurities though high school and early adulthood.  She immersed herself into getting healthy by losing 70 pounds, which eventually led to a consistent strength training and yoga practice.  It is now her passion to help others find their strength, step into their power, and take up the space they deserve.

Born and raised in Utah, Amy spent her summers hiking and exploring mountains and canyons.  She developed a love for the outdoors early on, which made sitting behind a desk almost unbearable.  She spent 10 years working in the investment industry before trading in a desk and a computer for a yoga mat and barbell, and she never looked back.  
 
Amy is a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutrition Coach, and a E-RYT 200 with over 15 years teaching experience.  She enjoys looking at movement through more than one lens and uses her extensive knowledge as both a trainer and yoga instructor to help her clients maximize their efforts in the weight room and on the mat. 
 
In addition to being the owner and creator of NamaStrength Training, Amy is also a nutrition and health coach at Vitality OET, where she helps women restore their metabolism, rebalance their hormones, and build muscle and lose body fat for life.  When she’s not training or teaching yoga, Amy stays very busy playing with her two very active boys, ages 9 and 5, who keep her laughing and exhausted.

The Accommodations

Our home for the retreat is the iconic Tamarindo Diria resort, located in the heart of Tamarindo, a coastal town known for surfing, sunsets, and low-key beach vibes. The stunning property has a boutique-y vibe with lush grounds, 4-star accommodations, and a friendly, welcoming staff. There are three pools, including two with swim-up bars, a tennis court, and massage services. Plus, being right on the beach means you'll waste no time between a fresh and delicious breakfast and soaking up the morning sunshine. The best part? While the property is relaxing and peaceful, you are steps away from a safe local town with plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to explore - the perfect vacation balance with something for everyone!

Thursday, November 30:
Welcome to Costa Rica! Guests will arrive at the Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) airport and take a provided shuttle to our resort, the Tamarindo Diria. We'll check in and then meet for sunset introductions and a welcome yoga class after a day of travel. Tonight's included dinner will be at a delicious local restaurant.

Friday, December 1:
This morning we will kick off our morning workout with a strength class followed by a nourishing breakfast overlooking the ocean waves. After some time to change or walk the beach, we'll depart for a zip lining adventure through tree canopies - the ultimate adventure! We'll return for a free afternoon to enjoy some lunch and free time and then come together once again in the late afternoon for a yoga class. The rest of the evening is free to enjoy the sunset and get some dinner.


Saturday, December 2:
Today, we will wake up with a strength class and breakfast, and then the day is yours! Explore the town, soak up the sunshine or take a dip in the pool. In the afternoon we'll have a yoga class and group dinner at a local restaurant in town.

Sunday, December 3:
Kick off the morning with an invigorating strength class and delicious breakfast. We'll have breakfast and then a few hours to relax before heading down the beach to hop on a catamaran for our adventure day in the ocean! We'll ride out into the Pacific, hopefully catching a glimpse of some whales or dolphins, and then we'll have time to jump in the water for snorkeling and swimming - and maybe an impromptu flow on the deck of the boat! We'll have lunch provided on the excursion + open bar, and we will come back as the sun sets for a perfect view of the magic! Free night.

Monday, December 4:
​Our final day will kick off with an early morning fitness class, some final remarks and nourishing breakfast. Then we will have time to take one last dip in the ocean, walk on the beach or stroll through town before departing for the airport with a healthy glow and a big smile!
