At RediscoverU, our goal is to bring you away from your daily grind and into nature! Sometimes we lose our true selves in the hustle and bustle of life, and our weekend together will act as a reset physically, mentally and spiritually. 

We will kick off the retreat with an inspirational talk, setting the tone for what's to come. We'll continue with workouts, yoga and meditation sessions, bringing the fun back into your fitness experience, and we'll seek out adventures that take us to the edge of our comfort zone, pushing the boundary between fear and discovery! Plus, we will share meals together and get to know each other and ourselves, on a deeper level.

Fitness & Wellness:
Throughout the weekend, our wellness schedule is packed with exciting bodyweight-focused workouts, yoga and meditation sessions and inspiring speeches and talks! As a sneak peek, the talks will be focused on "Overcoming adversity and welcoming fear" and "The Power of positivity and travel"!

Adventure:
When in Kauai, one must explore! As part of the program, we are excited to share new places and experiences with you on land and water. We've got an exciting excursion planned combining a moderately challenging hike with kayaking along the Wailua River to visit the sacred waterfalls!

Relaxation:
In between the programmed activities of this retreat, you will have time to enjoy the Hawaiian sunshine and fresh air! We'll also enjoy a beach day / free day at to relax!

The Accommodations

We are staying at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort, a postcard-looking paradise on the beach with swaying palm trees and clear blue water. This quaint plantation-style resort is situated on 25 green acres along Kauai's shore with four swimming pools, a full-service spa and delicious dining. Rise each day to a beautiful sunrise, and end it by an open bonfire!

Situated in an idyllic setting, the charming guest rooms offer peace between your island adventures. The Deluxe rooms are modern and newly renovated featuring bright decor and stylish furnishings. The Traditional rooms are classic and comfortable with a touch of the plantation lifestyle. All accommodations offer a private lanai (balcony) and WiFi internet access.

Thursday, February 7
  • Welcome to Hawaii! Guests will arrive in the early afternoon and take a complimentary shuttle to the hotel. After checking in and getting settled, we will meet at 4:30PM for introductions and kick off the program with an inspirational speech about "Overcoming Adversity and Welcoming Fear" to set the tone for the weekend. Then from 5:30-6:30PM we'll stretch out from our travels and have a workout and yoga session. In the evening, we will reconvene for a group dinner at 7:30PM where we will listen to another interesting talk.

Friday, February 8
  • Wake up in paradise and enjoy a morning yoga and meditation practice from 7:30-9AM. We'll follow with a nourishing breakfast and a free day to relax! At 4:30PM, we will depart for a traditional luau for dinner, fun and celebration!

Saturday, February 9
  • This morning we'll kick things off from 8-9:30AM with an invigorating workout and a relaxing yoga class ending with a mindful meditation, followed by a fueling breakfast. Then we'll enjoy some free time before getting picked up at 11:45AM for an adventurous day of hiking and kayaking on the Wailua River to the sacred waterfalls. The evening will be free to explore, go for dinner where you choose, or have a relaxing night in the room.

Sunday, February 10
  • On our last morning of the retreat, we'll jump to it with a morning workout and yoga session from 8-9:30AM. Then Rich will give a closing speech about the "Power of Positivity and Travel" while we enjoy breakfast. We'll pack our bags and head to the airport for goodbyes feeling strong, empowered and rediscovered.

​Rich is a California native with an excessive knowledge and background in fitness, athletics, and life-changing disciplines. As a collegiate athlete, Rich learned very important life altering skills of commitment, discipline, patience, and hard work. These are the essential building blocks needed to create the life we sometimes only dream about.
His career as a fitness professional started at The University of San Diego where he worked as a full-time strength and conditioning intern coach for the men's football and women's volleyball teams at age 24. It was here where he learned he wanted to pursue coaching rather than only being a player.

This new and exciting transition came after one school year at USD and 2 years as a Master Personal Trainer at The Sporting Club in La Jolla, CA. Rich then relocated back to the Bay Area to continue his career as a fitness professional and life coach at Equinox in downtown San Francisco. 

In 2016, he opened Swing Kettlebell School with his close friend and training partner, Luke Wilson. Together, they have created one of the fastest growing strength and conditioning gyms in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Rich's highest priority is to build unbreakable trust with his clients, coach them through their health and fitness journey, and always be in their corner when life’s 'dark times' become present.

He is a fitness professional with an uncanny ability to teach, motivate, and inspire individuals to take a leap of faith in changing their lives for the better. Through exercise, attitude, and a healthy perspective on life, Rich believes we can develop skills that are earned, not given.

Over 10 years ago I suffered a debilitating lower back injury while lifting heavy weights in the gym. The injury took me away from basketball the sport I love and the lifestyle I had grown accustomed to. For years I tried everything to feel better but nothing worked. It wasn’t until I began to combine self-myofascial release with therapeutic strength training that I started seeing progress. Through years of consistency and dedication to get stronger I have fully recovered! This injury forced me to reinvent my training style and research and learn the most effective and efficient ways to build strength without causing pain or injury.

I began working with people with back injuries because I felt confident I could help. I understood their pain and how to mentally support them through the tough road they had ahead of them. The methods and programs I began to develop for people is what I call The Low Back Solution. It is my passion to help people who are currently suffering from this same unforgiving injury!

Stephanie Toman, Head Yoga Instructor

​Stephanie began her yoga journey in 2013 after attending her first yoga class in San Francisco’s gorgeous Cathedral. She immediately fell in love. Growing up, Stephanie played competitive sports, enjoyed all things active, and loved being outdoors with Mother Nature. After graduating university, and joining the work forces in Silicon Valley, her balance was thrown off and she kissed her athletic/competitive side goodbye.

Yoga became her sport; however, she soon realized the deeper impact yoga created in her daily life maturing toward her true authentic self. She completed the RYT 200 hour course at Vikasa, in Koh Samui, Thailand. Today, Stephanie aims to provide her students a positive, playful and spiritual atmosphere where one can cultivate a connection with the physical, mental and spiritual bodies while also promoting greater focus, mobility, increased flexibility, and injury prevention. Join her on a rewarding journey to self discovery!

First off I am a father of two amazing girls. They are my biggest teachers in life. I have been in the fitness industry as a personal trainer, corrective exercise specialist and sports performance specialist for nearly 18 years. But it wasn't until I stumbled upon the teachings of Paul Chek that I realized how important bridging the gap between mind, body and spirit was in really driving results. I got certified as a holistic nutrition/life coach about the same time I started my yoga journey 14 years ago. I was fascinated with how closely the foundations and principles of yoga aligned with my understanding of life and what it means to truly connect to our highest self.

​I'm fascinated by the mental, emotional and spiritual connection to learned behavior and love how yoga and mindfulness help peel back the layers in understanding what governs the decision making process. I love anything that helps break the bonds of the faulty conditions we have set. Reprogramming how we are hard wired through mindfulness, sacred self care, daily rhythms and acute stress like ice cold plunges are just some of the ways I enjoy this process of self mastery. I hold certifications as a 200hr RYT certified yoga instructor, NASM CES PES, CHEK Exercise coach & Level 2 Holistic life coach, Functional diagnostic nutritionist, CMTA custom nutrition specialist.
