Join Coach Chelsea Aguiar on a five-day fitness and adventure getaway in Costa Rica! We’ll push ourselves outside our comfort zones through high intensity workouts, a morning surf lesson and zip-lining through the jungle. Together we’ll challenge the body, quiet the mind, and feed our adventurous spirits! 

The fitness:
We will start and close each day with a group workout. Mornings will be dedicated to strength, and HIIT-inspired circuits training. What is to be expected from these sessions?
  • Mobility & dynamic stretching
  • Traveling drills & plyometrics
  • TRX, resistance bands, and body weight strength training
  • Cardio circuits, sprint drills and group relays
 
In the evenings we will slow things down for workout #2. We will focus on joint mobility, trigger point techniques, stability training, stretching, and core work. Each of these classes is designed to promote efficient recovery from the days activities.

The retreat:
After each morning's workout, we will enjoy breakfast overlooking the stunning Tamarindo beaches. Afternoons will be spent on jungle excursions or simply lounging by the pool or ocean. Group activities include:
  • Surf lesson in the Costa Rican surf mecca! 
  • Zip lining excursion through the jungle
  • An optional afternoon trip to Las Catalinas for hiking, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, mountain biking, or basking by the beach!

Meet Coach Chelsea Aguiar

Raised in Santa Fe, NM, Chelsea's love for physicality and athleticism began at the National Dance Institute of New Mexico where she studied Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Modern dance for 13 years. Before graduating high school, she performed on stages across the U.S. including City Center in New York and the White House.

She attended college at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as a contemporary dance major until a reconstructive hip surgery in 2009. 9 months later, she found herself 30lbs overweight, out of shape, and unhappy. In 2010 she began training at a kettlebell studio (Dynamic Fitness, Santa Fe, NM) and a new passion was found.

Through "hardstyle" kettlebell training Chelsea became stronger and healthier than she'd ever been. Upon moving to NYC in 2011 she began working at Equinox, where she spent 3 years as a top producing personal trainer. In February of 2014 she left Equinox to found Athaya Fitness. Her experience with dance, Pilates, yoga,kettlebells, Olympic weightlifting, injury rehabilitation, and bodybuilding has inspired her to develop a unique method of training that works for all levels of fitness and is applicable to any goal.

The Accommodations

​One of Ketanga's favorite places for a fitness getaway, Tamarindo is a unique town in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica known for surfing and low key beach vibes. We will be staying at the beautifully-landscaped Tamarindo Diria, the 4-star beachfront resort with three pools (two with swim-up bars), a fitness center, massage services, and a small casino. Plus, being right on the beach means you'll waste no time between a fresh and delicious breakfast and soaking up the morning sunshine. While the property is relaxing and peaceful, the surrounding town is full of casual restaurants, bars, and shops making for a perfect balance and something for everyone!

Friday 2/10: 
  • Arrive at Liberia (LIR) airport and take provided shuttle to the resort (about an hour ride)
  • Get settled in your room and meet the group
  • Welcome workout
  • Shower up and enjoy a group dinner in town

Saturday 2/11: 
  • Morning workout
  • Group breakfast at hotel 
  • Zip lining excursion!
  • Return to hotel in early afternoon for a late lunch and free time
  • Sunset second workout
  • Dinner in town
  • Optional evening activity such as drinks at a local bar

Sunday 2/12: 
  • Morning workout
  • Group breakfast at hotel 
  • Half day trip to Las Catalinas for hiking and optional mountain biking, kayaking, or stand-up paddle boarding

Monday 2/13: 
  • Light breakfast at the hotel
  • Surf lesson down the beach
  • Free time all day! Shop, explore the town, optional excursions, and relax!

  • Farewell group dinner

Tuesday 2/14: 
  • Morning workout
  • Breakfast & prepare for departure
  • Goodbyes and shuttle to the airport
