Beach Bum Boot Camp Retreat

Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and togetherness, and this year we are thrilled to offer a retreat to spend this time with you. Join a group of like-minded fitness and travel enthusiasts on a getaway full of workouts, adrenaline-filled activities, delicious and healthy meals, and free time to relax and meditate.

Fitness
Our Costa Rican adventure will be led by Coach Beth Roberts, owner and head instructor of Killington Boot Camp. She will start each day with a high-intensity boot camp style workout, targeting all muscle groups. In the evenings, classes will have a more restorative focus on most days, ranging from a sunset beach walk to a restorative stretching class. All levels welcome!

Adventure
In addition to our workouts, three delicious meals per day, and comfortable accommodations, we have included two exciting activities to get to know Costa Rica by land and sea! We will be going on an exhilarating zip lining canopy tour and an all-levels surf lesson to practice riding the waves! Plus, during free time, you can sign up for additional excursions like waterfall rappelling, white water rafting and horseback riding for an additional cost.

Relaxation
We will be staying at the Encantada Ocean Cottages, a private boutique retreat center right on the beach. We'll have three home-cooked meals prepared each day with the freshest ingredients to enjoy while listening to the sounds of the waves in the background. The hotel has a private pool, direct access to the quiet beach, and tons of hammocks for naps!

Meet Coach Beth Roberts

​Beth Roberts is a fitness trainer and nutrition/lifestyle coach with over 20 years of experience. Beth has taught many styles of fitness and levels of clients over her career as a private coach and group exercise instructor.  Her passion for Boot Camp style interval training drove her to establish Killington Boot Camp where she keeps fitness fun with a variety of indoor and outdoor workouts.

The Accommodations

The Encantada Ocean Cottages is a boutique, family-owned retreat center in Esterillos Este, Costa Rica (less than two hours from San Jose International airport). Each individual spacious cottages sleep 2-4 people, and is just steps from the pristine beach, relaxing swimming pool, and peaceful workout patio. All rooms are shared, but guests may inquire about upgrading to a private room for an additional fee.

​Also on the property are beach volleyball, boogie boarding, and massage services (extra cost). Each day, three healthy meals are made fresh from local ingredients, and vegan meals are available with advanced notice. And at just 20 minutes from the town of Jaco, Encantada is private, peaceful, and in an underdeveloped area, yet close to restaurants, shops, and nightlife for those who feel like exploring.

Wednesday, November 21:
  • Arrive at Costa Rica's SJO airport and take our provided shuttle to Encantada with a quick stop at the famous crocodile bridge! We'll enjoy a fresh coconut upon arrival & get settled in with a welcome meeting and light workout after a day of travel. In the evening, the group will have a delicious fresh dinner inspired by local flavors.

Thursday, November 22:
  • Wake up to a morning workout session and fresh breakfast in the dining area. Then we'll depart as a group for an adventurous zip lining canopy tour, flying through the trees and across mountains! We'll return to Encantada for lunch and a free afternoon to relax and reflect, plus a light evening workout and Thanksgiving dinner.

Friday, November 23:
  • Start the day with an invigorating workout and fueling breakfast, and then the day is yours to relax on the beach, cool off in the pool, or join an extra excursion like horseback riding or rappelling down a waterfall! We'll reconvene for a sunset workout and dinner. 

Saturday, November 24:
  • Wake to the sounds of the waves and smell of fresh coffee! After a workout and fresh breakfast, we'll walk out on the beach for a surf lesson for all levels where we'll test our balance as we try to ride the waves! The afternoon is free to go into town (Jaco), get a massage by the beach or relax by the pool before our evening class and dinner.

Sunday, November 25:
  • Today is our last full day together, and other than our scheduled morning and evening workouts, the day is free to get in an additional excursion (horseback riding, monkey mangrove tour), have a relaxing massage or simply lay out on the beach. After our group dinner, we'll have a memorable bonfire on the beach under the stars.

Monday, November 26:
  • On our final morning, we'll get in an early workout to move our bodies before our journeys home. After a nice farewell breakfast, we'll say goodbye and depart for the airport.
