Fitness-Inspired Halloween Costumes

Happy Halloween! You either hate it or you love it, and often that is determined by whether you have a killer costume or not! To give you a little fit-spiration, here are 5 costume ideas inspired by fitness. You may not even need to look past your own closet!

Wear your best look on Sunday, 10/30 to Ketanga's 2nd annual Halloween Fitness Krawl and costume contest for a chance to win a $50 gift card to Lululemon! Just $20 - sign up here.

Tony Perkis from Heavyweights

Ben Stiller killed it in this 1995 film about a fat camp gone horribly wrong. When Stiller's character Tony Perkis takes over the camp, his 'mad scientist' persona comes out and makes for great movie viewing! Best part of this character: there are three ways to 'Perkisise' (or get a group of three together and each of you wears a different costume).

Richard Simmons

Richard Simmons is one of the most vibrant, fun, and iconic fitness stars. Known for his short shorts, afro, and general flamboyance, Richard is all about making fitness fun. Replicate his look with a bedazzled tank top, short shorts, and white sneakers. Throw on a wig, and you've got it down!

Hawaiian Punch

This punny costume is a lot of fun, and relatively simple to put together! You can go as a couple - the gal dressed in a summer dress or a Hawaiian coconut bra, lei, and grass skirt and the guy dressed in gym clothes with a hoodie and boxing gloves. Or, go solo with a dress and boxing gloves as one! You'll love the looks you get when people figure it out.

Jane Fonda

Oh, Jane. Fitness icon of the 80's. How things have changed! The Jane Fonda look is the ultimate throwback to fitness of yesteryear, before we had dozens of types of fitness, fitness studios, and athleisure apparel brands to pick from. To rock this look, grab a high-cut onesie / leotard, tease your hair to get a little wild, and throw on a headband, leg warmers, and a belt if that feels good. Don't forget to pose for pics - and we mean pose!

The "Final Five"

A fun costume for a group of friends, the "Final Five" gold medalists were the highlight of this year's Olympics. They are known for their extreme talent, spunkiness, and general adorability (is that a word?), and the costume can go one of two ways: either shell out for the awesome - yet expensive - Nike track jacket that the athletes wore (about $300) (or replicate it with a similar look and feel). Or, if you're feeling brave, opt for a leotard, ideally red, white & blue that is heavily bedazzled. Don't forget to gel your hair back and in a tight bun and grab those golds!
