Healthy Smoothie Series: The Nutty Neapolitan

Looking for something more filling in the morning? How about a chocolate strawberry shake... made healthy?  This smoothie is rich and full of flavor (with a nice combination of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla), and tastes like a cheat meal but without any of the guilt.
The Nutty Neapolitan:

Calories: 300-315 (~350 with full scoop of protein)



Ingredients: 
  • Almond Butter (I like Justin's Natural Almond Butter)
  • Strawberries
  • Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk (I like Almond Breeze, 30 calories per cup)
  • Chocolate protein (My favorite is the great tasting Elite Gourmet's Milk Chocolate)
  • Ice

If I'm having this smoothie with breakfast, I usually do a half scoop or 3/4 of a scoop of protein because I make eggs in the morning too, but if I'm having it as a midday snack, I'll use a whole scoop. 

Instructions:
  • Pour 1/3 of a cup of almond milk into blending cup
  • Add in 2 tablespoons of Almond Butter
  • Add about 1/2 cup of strawberries
  • Add in protein
  • Throw in a few ice cubes and fill the blending cup up to a little under the top with cold water
  • Blend and enjoy!

Note, measurements and calories are approximate, and are based on using a 16oz blender cup.
