Boxing & The Beach

There's nothing quite like throwing a solid punch or surfing a perfect wave, and this retreat has both! Our fourth annual getaway is all about having fun, being active and trying new things, all while being surrounded by amazing people. Together, with Coach Nikki Campbell, we'll learn proper boxing form, work on strength and conditioning, and take on adventures like surfing the waves, while building confidence and having a blast!

Fitness:
Coach Nikki is equal parts teacher, motivator and the life of the party who you want to spend your vacation with! On this retreat, she will lead two workouts per day that are broken down into high-intensity and technique-based formats. The high intensity workouts include shadow boxing, mitt work and heart-pumping body conditioning. Our afternoon workouts will be more technique based, learning how to apply our new boxing skills in a more realistic capacity along with core and strength work. Each day will be a progression in regards to what is learned, practiced and applied.

Adventure:
There's so much to do in beautiful Costa Rica, and on this retreat, we will be exploring in an adventurous fashion! Two exciting excursions are included (yet totally optional): a surf lesson to learn how to ride the waves like a local and zip lining on an exciting canopy tour through the mountains! And for the truly adventurous, we'll learn to dance salsa and go practice while exploring the local nightlife!

Relaxation:
Each day will balance activities with free time to relax, reflect, or go explore on your own or with others. Our resort is right on the beach and also has a couple of pools (with a swim-up bar!) so free time is yours to cherish! Other ideas are to get a massage, sign up for an extra excursion like horseback riding or zip lining or visit the town for some shopping.

Meet Coach Nikki Campbell

Nikki Campbell fell in love with boxing the moment she laced up her first pairs of gloves. She spent several years working in various fashion jobs but always kept coming back to boxing. She was approached by the owner of Work Train Fight to teach; so she quit her job on the spot and pursued her passion.

​After extensive fitness class training she is now teaching classes, clients and a whole new generation of trainers how to lead! Nikki is fueled by being witness to her client’s inner strength becoming visible through boxing. She is also currently fighting in amateur fights in the NYC area! @nikkicampz

The Accommodations

Our home for the retreat is the iconic and newly-renovated Tamarindo Diria resort, located in the heart of Tamarindo, a coastal town known for surfing, sunsets, and low-key beach vibes. The stunning property has a boutique-y vibe with lush grounds, 4-star accommodations, and a friendly, welcoming staff. There are three pools, including two with swim-up bars, a tennis court, and massage services. Plus, being right on the beach means you'll waste no time between a fresh and delicious breakfast and soaking up the morning sunshine. The best part? While the property is relaxing and peaceful, you are steps away from a safe local town with plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to explore - the perfect vacation balance with something for everyone!

Itinerary

Day 1:
Welcome to Costa Rica! Guests will arrive at the Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) airport and take a provided shuttle to our resort, the Tamarindo Diria. We'll check in and then meet for introductions and a welcome stretch/workout depending on guests' arrivals. Tonight's included dinner will be at a local restaurant in town!


Day 2:
This morning we will kick off our morning Boxing Boot Camp routine with an invigorating class followed by a delicious fueling breakfast. Then we'll get picked up for our first group adventure: zip lining through the tree canopies! This adventure is one of the must-try activities in Costa Rica, and it is a truly unique and memorable way to see the country! After our tour and some refreshing local fruit, we'll head back to the hotel for a free afternoon. We'll come together as a group in the early evening for a second workout overlooking sunset and a free night. Suggestion: check out the Thursday night market for food, entertainment and fun!


Day 3:
Morning boxing + breakfast. Then enjoy a free day in Tamarindo! Sign up for an additional activity or excursion (horseback riding on the beach, anyone?) or simply relax and soak up the sun. We'll come together in the early afternoon for a second workout and a free night. Suggestion: go out salsa dancing!


Day 4:
Morning boxing + breakfast. Then we'll have some down time to relax or visit the Saturday farmer's market before going on our afternoon adventure, a surf lesson! Our surf pros will guide us through the movements and safety information to get out on the waves! All levels are welcome and encouraged to try it out. After the lesson, you are welcome to stick around and practice. We'll come together again in the late afternoon for a second workout, a bit more restorative after a day of activity, and then we'll have a free evening to relax and dine.


Day 5:
Morning boxing + breakfast. Today is a free day to explore the surrounding town of Tamarindo, go on an adventure to another beach or sign up for an additional activity like a massage. In the afternoon, Nikki will lead us through another technical boxing class, showing us some more advanced movements! Then we'll have a final group dinner at a delicious local restaurant.

Day 6:

Morning boxing on the beach + breakfast. This morning we will have time for a final dip in the ocean, walk along the beach or stroll through town. Then we'll depart for the airport and say our farewells - 'til next time!
