Sure, your mom would appreciate flowers or jewelry for Mother's Day (next Sunday, May 8, in case you forgot). But if you got your exercise gene from her, chances are she'd really love something to support her active lifestyle. Whether you're looking for a gift for your mom or another mom in your circle (your sister or best friend, perhaps), here are five ideas all fit moms will love. 1. Classes at her favorite studio You know how hard it is to find a gym or fitness studio you love. If your mom has a go-to place, pay for a few classes or a month's membership. That way she can keep seeing her friends and her favorite instructor without worrying if it's in her budget. Or if she keeps talking about trying yoga or kickboxing but has never signed up, search Yelp for a good studio that's convenient to her. When you surprise her with a package, she'll have no excuse not to go. 2. A massage or other spa treatmentWe don't need to tell you that every mom is at least somewhat stressed (hey, we all are). But moms rarely pamper themselves, so do her a favor and get her a certificate to a spa. Even better? Join her! Most spas have rooms for 'couples massages' so why not reserve it for you and your mamma? “It gives her a chance to shut off her brain and relax a little bit,” says Ketanga coach Brooke Taylor. “And if she gets a massage, it'll also release lactic acid build-up in her body.” 3. Cookbooks or cooking classesMoms who love to cook are always looking for new inspiration. “I love me the newest clean eating, Paleo, and whole food cookbooks to help me nourish my family,” says Go Active founder and Ketanga Coach Cheryl Borecky. If your mom has hundreds of recipes on her Pinterest boards (or bulletin board if she isn't so social media savvy) and always has something new for you to try when you go home, chances are she'd also love a cookbook. Even better, if you live nearby, sign up for a cooking class together. You could also show up at her place with groceries and cook a meal together. Pick any recipe—she'll care more about getting some quality one-on-one time than about how the food tastes. 4. A vacation“I LOVE to travel and explore the world...with and without my family,” Borecky says. So buy your mom a plane ticket to the city she's always wanted to visit (checking her schedule first, of course), or take a road trip together. You could also gang up with any siblings and send her on a retreat, like Ketanga's upcoming FitMoms Adventure Retreat with Borecky and co-host, Carey Adam. As Adam says, "I love my family adventure time, but I would love a guilt free week away to be inspired, motivated and rejuvenated by going on an adventure with other like minded, outdoorsy, fun women!" Mom will spend seven days in Costa Rica, hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, and chilling on the beach with other moms. She can even take surf lessons! (As long as she sends photos so you can brag about having the coolest mom.) 5. Workout clothes or sneakers Why is it that some moms think pajama pants and a 'regular' bra are A-OK to work out in? Luckily you can help her out. A sports bra will keep her girls supported during any type of workout and can help prevent pain. Your mom will notice the difference after just one sweat session. Or maybe she needs some real exercise clothes. You know, the type that's made from breathable, sweat-wicking fabrics, rather than 100% cotton, which sucks up moisture and can leave you feeling damp and gross. Lastly, be sure your mom is wearing the right shoes for her workout. Whether she's a runner, plays tennis, or is obsessed with her bootcamp class, the proper support and shoe construction will keep her feet happy and head off injuries.
