Experience the Best of Costa Rica with an EPIC Fitness Scavenger Hunt

We're gearing up for an amazing fitness retreat to Costa Rica led by founder and head coach of EPIC Hybrid Training, Alex Nicholas. The five-day trip, which will be a combination of exhilarating action and beachside relaxation, will also feature a competitive and thrilling scavenger hunt designed to immerse you in local activities, culture, and adventures.

​Building off the retreat's emphasis on improving strength, endurance, power, agility, and balance, the tasks will engage on multiple levels. We talked with Alex about the thrills and challenges that participants can expect, as this will be like no scavenger hunt you've ever experienced before!

“The EPIC Scavenger hunt is a fitness experience where you will be completing fun and exciting fitness-based tasks on the wonderful beaches and natural surroundings in Costa Rica," says Alex. The challenge, which will last four hours, “will take just as much mental strength as it will physical strength."

What does that mean, exactly? Here's a quick glimpse at just a few of the obstacles on the list, which you'll complete as teams of two: 
  • Strike a plank on a historic Costa Rican site
  • Run a 50 meter beach sprint...with flippers on
  • Have some native Costa Ricans join you for five burpees
  • Test your surfing skills, riding for at least 15 feet
  • Climb a palm tree (or at least climb six feet up!)
  • Do your best handstand on the sand
  • Press another human above your head
And many, many more!

Throughout the scavenger hunt, you'll be competing with other pairs and documenting your progress with photos and videos. You'll also be enjoying the surf and sun, getting your sweat on, and inevitably having a blast as you make friends with locals and invite them to join you (and laugh along with your antics) on your fitness obstacles.  

The grand prize for winning the is $1,000 in membership and prizes, and includes an EPIC membership, gear, and personal training sessions. Alex's advice for success? “Be clever, be fast, be efficient!" And of course, have fun.
